About
Dr Christabel Kelly is a female gastroenterologist in Footscray, who provides comprehensive and holistic care of gastrointestinal conditions. These include liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and management of common conditions like bloating, changes in bowel habit, abdominal pain and reflux.
In particular, Dr Christabel Kelly’s private gastroenterologist practice at InnerWest Specialists in Footscray is combined with public appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Northern Hospital. Additionally, Christabel Kelly offers gastroscopy and colonoscopy to both privately insured and medicare bulk-billed patients.
Dr Kelly graduated from Medicine with honours from Melbourne University in 2005, while completing a Bachelor of Arts in French and Classics at the same time. She was then awarded scholarships for studies in remote Indigenous communities in Central Australia and in Bolivian villages in South America and speaks fluent Spanish and French.
Subsequently following Physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Dr Kelly worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at Oxford University for 4 years and was awarded a Doctorate for work on gastrointestinal immunology and Hepatitis C Virus vaccination. She completed her gastroenterology, gastroscopy and colonoscopy training at The Alfred and the Royal Melbourne Hospitals, gaining experience in a broad range of GI conditions including liver disease, nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease and chronic abdominal disorders.
Dr Kelly provides first class specialist care for gastroenterology conditions and recognises the importance of partnering with GPs and patients for comprehensive long term health outcomes.
Dr Kelly is available for new and review patients on a Friday fortnightly.
